Who Is Behind the Kwiat Name? And a Look at Vintage Kwiat Jewelry!

Today, Kwiat is world-famous for its diamond jewelry in general and bridal collection in particular. Natalie Portman, Marcia Cross and Mark Wahlberg are just a few famous folks who are wearing Kwiat creations to red carpet events and beyond. Who is behind this famous name?
Granting an interview to Elite Traveler, Lowell and Sheldon Kwiat disclosed some of the company’s history. It all began in 1907, when Sam Kwiat set up shop as a Manhattan diamond merchant. Over the course of time, Kwiat gained a reputation for being able to refinish old stones that had lost their luster. By 1933, Kwiat’s son David entered the business.
Learning the business from the ground up, David Kwiat added diamond jewelry design and manufacturing to the company’s lineup of services. Son Sheldon came onboard in 1964 while son Lowell made his business debut in 1973. Already the fourth generation of Kwiats is joining the family business and running it as well.
Kwiat is a brand that unabashedly targets the luxury consumer. Even so, their prices are not so outlandishly priced as to make the jewelry unaffordable to anyone but the Hollywood elite. In fact, Peter Suchy Jewelers currently have some Kwiat jewels in stock. Maybe one would be perfect for you?

Kwiat Micro Pave Diamond Engagement Ring

The artisans chose platinum as the setting material for the stones. The center piece is an oval diamond weighing 1.10cts. The micro pave consists of 50 full-cut diamonds weighing 0.35cts. The sparkle of this piece has to be seen to be believed.

Kwiat Diamond Pendant in Pink Gold

Set in 18k pink gold, the wire pendant features a pink sapphire weighing .15cts. Four round and four marquise-cut diamonds weigh .37cts and create the illusion of a floral petal setup. The pendant hangs from a 16-inch pink gold cable chain.

Kwiat Eternity Ring Featuring Sapphires and Diamonds

This Kwiat ring is made of platinum. It holds 14 round blue sapphires and 14 round ideal-cut diamonds. The latter weigh .42cts. The alternating colors are beautiful.
While Kwiat continues in its founder’s footsteps with respect to the creation of high-quality pieces, the company’s representatives are quite candid about the struggle of remaining a major force in the market when growing jewelry conglomerates are getting stronger. That said, the company is dedicated to remaining an agile family-run business that responds to its customer’s feedback and creates gorgeous pieces based on client tastes and preferences rather than amassing generic inventories.
