Some vintage jewels display colors and material combinations that we, in modern day America, are simply not used to. They usually come from jewelry makers unaffected by popular tastes and the appeal of mass production. Instead, they worked setting materials and included the choicest stones for the creation of unique jewels. Peter Suchy Jewelers has put together an inventory of our choicest pieces.
Vintage Luna Felix Pendant with Tourmaline and Diamonds
The goldsmith work of Luna Felix is famous the world over. This particular pendant displays 18k as well as 22k yellow gold
. A combination of granulation and wirework makes this a unique jewel that easily becomes the focal point of any jewelry ensemble. The hooks on the sides of the pendant turn from display pieces to functional design when used to attach the pendant to a strand of pearls.
A 6.0cts cushion-cut green tourmaline nestles in the lower portion of the pendant. A pear-cut pink to green tourmaline, also known as a watermelon stone, combines the bottom with the top. It weighs 8.0cts. At the top, you will find a pear-shaped diamond weighing .15cts. This is the type of pendant that you simply do not see anywhere else.
Art Deco Amethyst Briolette Dangle Earrings
Crafted in the 1930s, these Art Deco dangle earrings are works of art. Two briolettes show off natural medium purple amethysts
with a few attractive inclusions. They weigh .30cts. Look closely and you see the amazing artwork that is the setting holding them in place. Created from 14k white gold, the settings are actually open work designs. The meticulous connection of gold wiring is ethereal in its presentation. The look of the earrings when worn is elegant and charming.
Platinum Ring with a Pear-shaped Aquamarine and Multiple Diamonds
The ring’s setting is platinum. It holds a pear-shaped aquamarine
with a soft blue to green hue. The stone weighs 12.99cts. To add some sparkle to the mix, jewelers added four baguette-cut diamonds that weigh a combined .32cts. We date the manufacture of this piece to the 1940s. At the top, the width of the ring is 21.3mm. At the bottom, the width tapers down to 3mm. Select this as an engagement ring or simply as a piece of jewelry that delights with its delicate gem color display. When you love the softness of a color presentation, this is the jewel that you have to see.
